Recent Projects
Below are highlights from recent projects.
Yilin Zhang Advisory has worked successfully with clients to secure a Presidential Statement, and developing and implementing national and local conferences.
80th Anniversary Commemorating the Repeal of the Exclusion Act of 1882 with the 1882 Foundation
Yilin Zhang Advisory led the 1882 Foundation’s “We Are Americans” event on December 6, 2023 to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the repeal of the Chinese Exclusion Act. This historically significant event brought together 150 individuals at the Library of Congress and welcomed Congresswoman Judy Chu (CA-28) and Martin Gold, Counsel to the 1882 Project, as special speakers. Additionally, in 2023, the 1882 Foundation, United Chinese Americans (UCA), and Yilin Zhang Advisory successfully worked with White House leadership on a Presidential Statement commemorating this anniversary. The Presidential Statement commemorating the 80th anniversary of the repeal of the Chinese Exclusion Act and highlighting the importance of celebrating diversity was released on December 17, 2023.
Chinese American Women in History Conference with the 1882 Foundation
Yilin Zhang Advisory managed the implementation of the second biannual Chinese American Women in History (CAWH) Conference in Washington, DC in October 2023. Themed “Locating Kinship Across Space and Time,” the Conference explored how Chinese American women have forged interpersonal connections, fostered care, and facilitated community. CAWH welcomed scholars, filmmakers, creatives, and community members from across the country to share their work exploring the multifaceted and complex experiences of Chinese American women. 230 individuals registered to attend either in-person or virtually. The Conference kicked-off with a special reception at the Chinese American Museum in DC, then moved into panel sessions at the historic Charles Sumner School in Washington, DC., and finally a private tour at the National Portrait Gallery, over two-and-a-half days.
“State of DC Statehood” Conference with the League of Women Voters
Yilin Zhang Advisory collaborated with the League of Women Voters DC Statehood and Full Rights Committee on the first “State of DC Statehood” Conference. The conference brought together more than 100 elected officials, community and non-profit leaders, and residents to share the current state in the DC Statehood advocacy movement. It was also a time for participants to share their ideas and strengthen the DC Statehood coalition. This was the first conference of its kind in the DC Statehood movement. This one-day conference took place at the University of the District of Columbia Van Ness Campus.
